ABOUT THE AUTHOR Tom Lisanti lives in Manhattan and works for The New York Public Library. A former employee of the Performing Arts Library at Lincoln Center, he co-curated the exhibitions 'Screams on Screen: 100 Years of Horror Film' and 'Alternative Rock: 1970 to the Present'.

Since the mid 1990s he has also been a freelance writer specializing in celebrity profiles for magazines such as 'In Theater', 'Femme Fatales', 'Filmfax', 'Films of the Golden Age' and 'Outre'. Television reruns of Elvis, beach and biker movies in the seventies led to Tom's infatuation with the sixties - the music, the attitude, the clothes and especially the actresses. He followed their careers through several decades. Then, after pondering their fate in more recent times, he began asking questions. The result was 'Fantasy Femmes of Sixties Cinema: Interviews with 20 Actresses from Biker, Beach, and Elvis Movies'. Published by McFarland & Company, it went on sale in October 2000. Tom followed his first book with another, 'Drive-In Dream Girls: A Galaxy of B-Movie Starlets of the Sixties', and co-authored (with accomplished writer and friend Louis Paul) 'Film Fatales: Women in Espionage Films & Television 1962-1973'. His latest book, 'Surf Movies: A Filmography 1959-2003' is currently in production. Tom has his own comprehensive website at sixtiescinema.com.
